Social Marketing

Social Marketing Biography

Miel Van Opstal is a (mobile) social marketing strategist and internet entrepreneur who helps brands, individuals and companies to connect with their target audiences. Before his current job, he has worked 3 years for Microsoft as a Technology Evangelist where he traveled around the world speaking and presenting about Microsoft’s newest consumer products and services for technical and consumer audiences.

Currently, Miel works freelance for a couple of advertising agencies, a handful of small and midsized businesses and some governmental institutions.

Next to his consulting work as an online marketing strategist and evangelist, Miel wrote a very small e-book to help newcomers to social media set up their social channels and plot their plans. The 8 Steps To A Solid Social Presence e-book has been downloaded and used by thousands of people since its release in November 2011.

In December 2011, a promo book about mobile marketing was published to Amazon. It’s a small 100-pager with an introduction to help brands and companies find the right audience in a mobile world.

Miel talks about social media and social marketing, mobile marketing, (corporate) blogging and mobile technology. In his presentations Miel shows, using many examples and personal experiences, how each online and offline company uses and leverages the power of all things mobile & social and why no company can live without it.

Recent lectures were given at the iƩseg School of Management in Paris and Lille, at Lessius Antwerp and at the University of Leuven. The 2.5 hour talk is a dive into mobile marketing and wireless technologies to connect with consumers, added with tips and tricks and industry trends. No students have been reported hurt or missing.
